Karlovy Vary day

Image
We have the day to look around, so started at the Kaiserbad Spa, built for the well to do to bathe in spa water or peat! (You can bathe in peat on the Cumbrian fells for nout). Very opulently surroundings of paneled resting rooms and individual bathing chambers. Beautiful place.

Reasonable good rip from Cologne, we had to be in the last 2 coaches of the train, as it splits into 3. Our bit was the train to Cheb. Very little information at Cheb as to which train or what platform, we had to go to the main entrance (when we found it) for the information display, then back down to the platforms. At Karlovy Vary it was a 30 minute walk to the hotel. In the dark the walk was not very interesting but after revisiting the following day in the light we changed our minds. We arrived too late for reception at the Hotel Boston and the door was locked, but there were key safes on the door. We finally found the number to ring and got the combination to key safe 1 for the front door and our room. Shower and off to find somewhere to eat. Goethe's Beer House was 2 minutes walk away. Excellent beer and food, definitely recommend.  Back to the hotel and good night's sleep.

Made it! Short walk to the Urban Loft, a nice little modern place very similar in style to the Hub. Out to find something to eat.. Weinhause Vogel.

Brussels

Eurostar 10 minutes late. Missed the train to Cologne, but after a bit of running around we got on the next one an hour later, with a number of others in the same boat.

Eurostar

I was expecting a better service than we got, more like being at an airport. Queueing, security scanners, no seats in the departure area. More queueing onto the train. On the train there are no phone charging points or working WiFi. And sideways pictures. Brussels Midi next stop.
